Step by Step Business Start Up for Gift Professionals

Starting a gift business can be an exciting venture offering many rewards. However, there are many things you need to research/ask yourself before you start.

Will your business be home based? Retail? Warehouse based?

What products/services do you want to sell? Where will you find them?

What will you name your business? Make sure you have the right to the name you choose. Also, make sure your business name will fit the image you want to show. For example, if your target market is the corporate world, you shouldn't have a "cute" name.

Do you have the necessary funds to start your business? If not, can you get a loan?

How do you want to run your business? You will need a business plan.

How will you differentiate yourself from the other gift providers?

Where will you get your merchant account? Make sure you know the cost of each program you consider.

Will you have a website? You should, but do you know what is important to have in a successful website? Do you know where to start (where do you get your domain name, and which host is best for your needs?)

How will you promote your business?
