You Can Increase Web Traffic With Press Releases

by Kale McClelland

A press release can be a vital part of your company's advertising strategy, both on and off of the web. A press release which provides useful information in a manner which makes it a pleasure to read will bring traffic to your website or bricks-an-mortar business like no other kind of advertising can. Any company, whether a new start up or an established larger firm, can benefit greatly form the attention a press release can bring. It may in fact be precisely the thing that your company needs to build business.

Basically, a press release is a professionally produced bit of copy about your company which is meant to be distributed to the media. Perhaps it is about your newest product or service which you feel could use some attention form the public, or just something about your company which you think that may be newsworthy enough to receive some press. The important thing is that your press release be one that will convince the media organizations to whom you will distribute it that it will be interesting to their audience. Make your press release something which will grab the interest of the public.

You'll find that there are a variety of media that you can submit your press release to, ranging from newspapers and television to radio, news websites and magazines. Remember that a press release will usually follow a specific format; keep this format in mind, and if you have any doubts, ask the venue you are planning to send it to. Remember that if it is not formatted correctly that there will be a good chance that they will simply toss it.

When you are putting together a press release, remember that this is not an advertisement; you need to give them a compelling reason to run the story. If you send them something that they consider an advertisement, it will simply not run. For instance, if your business is sponsoring some sort of event or entertainment, this might be considered newsworthy. Your press release might focus on fundraisers and donations that you have taken part in, or major awards or accomplishments that have been achieved by your company.

Your press release should include information on when you would like your release to be run as a story, along with your contact information and a short summary of the press release, usually a few sentences. The content of the press release should follow this. Remember to put the most important information at the beginning of your release; news items are often cut short for time considerations, so make sure to put the most important information first.

Your local media can be invaluable in informing the public about your business and what it does. You can build your clientele this way, merely by putting out information you can have one of the best possible forms of advertising. Take advantage of these opportunities and your business will prosper!
