I just rec'd a call from a person looking for approx. 250 centerpieces that are some type of picture holder. She called me after seeing the Alda's Forever picture holder (jpg attached) on my site. The kicker is that her budget is set at $3-4/each. The picture holder on my site retails at $15/each. The deepest volume discount doesn't come close to my wholesale cost. So, she needs another alternative. I volunteered to ask you all for any ideas/suggestions you might have. The height is approx. 12 - 13".Star Picture Holder

Pat, is she really looking for 'centerpieces' and if so, does she really need 250 of them??? 250 x 8 per table=2000 people. Hum. Sounds like she might be looking to resell them to different people.

I was thinking the same thing Pam. Maybe she is going to give each attendee one with a picture in it. Or maybe it is going to be a name card holder.
Pat I would check $ Tree. I think I saw something like them at FIB but I don't think the price is what you are looking for.

This site does sale wholesale but no prices given. The retail on this is just under $7.

Thanks for all your help. I found some similar items, priced at the same levels. If she has her heart set on a photo display item, I don't have much hope for something in the $3-4 price range unless she wants to buy those craft kits and do the assembly herself. What I was hoping for was an alternative suggestion for a centerpiece with that height and functionality. I thought perhaps they were planning to use them as give-aways and naturally, they wouldn't want to spend very much on them. I looked at Oriental Trading and they have those kits that you can assemble for like $.47/each, but they are only about 5 1/2" tall. As for looking for 250 of anything at Dollar Stores, I don't think so. I'll keep thinking for another day or 2. I appreciate any suggestions you may have.

Pat,
I also work as a project manager with an event planner (PT from home). We had a project last year with a foster care organization. They wanted to use some of the kid's pictures and you know the budget for a non profit is low...so we did centerpieces using the decorative picks--i will try to find a picture when I get my girls out. But we just covered a styrofoam ball and put it in a container and put the picks in at different levels. It looked really cute.

I will look for a picture soon.
