I'm moving from Southern California to San Antonio, TX. Has anyone used the relocation cubes or Pods for moving long distance? I don't really want to use the conventional moving van...expense wise and I have just a few pieces of furniture to move. My research is showing that the relo cubes is the least expensive way to go but I don't know anyone who has actually moved this way before. I also would like to avoid driving a Uhaul and towing my car by myself. As it looks now the Relo Cubes would be half the price of me renting a Uhaul and doing it myself. Sounds too good to be true : ). Anyone? Tere Pia's of Pleasant Valley

Tere, When we just recently moved back from California we used a POD. Their customer service was fantastic! I would recommend them to anyone who’s doing a long haul move. While they worked in the long run for us, we had a short haul and I had to wait 3 days to get my belongings. But none the less, they were great, on time and very reasonably priced. Getting a Uhaul out of California would have cost us almost double what we paid for a POD. Hope that helps you some. ~Courtney |

Thanks ladies. Courtney, thanks for confirming the cost issue. I just need to do a little more investigating regarding POD vs. Relo Cube. The determinate will be storage. I won't need my belongings until I get a new place so storage costs will be an issue for me. Thanks again, it's much appreciated. Tere Pia's of Pleasant Valley

Tere, The size of POD is 8x8x16. We moved out of a 2500 sq. ft home and one POD was not big enough! The price of the POD does include the storage fees as it takes 4 days delivery time. The contract is based on monthly storage. If you don't have a place to put a POD at first, they can keep it in the warehouse and then deliver it when you're ready. Like I said a POD is really worth it if you need additional time to move or you're moving out-of-state. I really enjoyed that I could fill it when I wanted to. I didn't have to stuff all of our belongings in it on one day. In fact, we packed them over a 2 week time period...it was nice, not so rushed. Made moving semi-enjoyable I hope all this info helps. Good luck on the move! Courtney |
