Hi All...just had to share my great day....most of you know that I am in the Air Force full time (aka my real job) and today I found out that I was promoted to Senior Master Sergeant. That is a big deal, HUGE, actually, as this represents a promotion to the top 3% of the Air Force! I was so excited this morning that I almost had a heart attack!!! Anywhoo, just wanted to share! Congratulations Gail - are you staying in long enough to make Chief? My husband was a MSgt at the time of his death and know how much those promotions mean. Again, congrats. Trudy Baskets and Beyond |

Thanks, all. It really puts a wrench in my plans, though, because I was planning on retiring next fall and working the biz full time. Now, with this promotion I have to give two years to the AF, which means I won't be able to retire until the fall of '08. Still, it's a $600+ pay raise a month and half of that will be an increase in my monthly retirement pay, so it would be silly to turn it down - an extra year for an extra $300+ a month retirement for the rest of my life? NO brainer. There are only 5,636 SMSgts in the AF, and only 630 are women. My regular career field is Aircraft Armament (aka Bomb Loading LOL) and there aren't that many women in my career field to begin with.... The only downside is that I many have to take an assignment to another base....as long as they don't send me to Korea I can still keep my biz. If I get orders to Korea, I'm sunk! We shall see!!!!!!!!! Gail |
