I tried to access the JDW website this morning, but it's not up. I'm hoping that it's just a glitch, and not that they've gone under.

Just got off the phone with Jon. He can't figure out what's happening with his site. Some people are able to get in and others can't. I, like you Sandy, can't get in.

We may be able to help. What is the web address? Sounds like either his domain has expired or he is having a DNS issue (DNS is what points people to the right servers).

It's http://www.jdw.everestondemand.com
or http://www.jdwdist.com

Domain checks out fine, it’s good for several more years. Packets (little bits of traffic going to the server) are dropping so there is bad connection somewhere within his network.

This domain is parked at godaddy: http://www.everestondemand.com and since http://jdw.everestondemand.com is a subdomain of it, it practically doesn't exist.

It looks like their web developer messed something up on their end.

http://www.jdwdist.com probably just frames the above subdomain.

I did a little more digging, and here is what I think happened: their web development company had their site as a subdomain on this site: everestondemand.com and forgot to renew the domain.

The above domain expired yesterday, so all the sites this company had on this domain are gone (I did a Google search).

Hopefully JDW has their site backed up and can upload it to a new server.

Wow. Not good. Have you given Jon a call yet to let him know what you've discovered?

I don't have his number. Here is mine 540-740-9323, if you think he'd want to call. I'll be more than happy to talk to him and make some suggestions.

Adriana, I just called Jon and suggested he call you. He thinks that because he can get the site on his computer, that everything is okay. He said if it doesn't get better, he will call you in the morning.

What he is getting on his computer is probably the cache. His site is definitely offline.

I won't be home tomorrow until the afternoon: I volunteer at my church all morning. But I'll be happy to talk to him in the afternoon if he wants to wait that long.

Not good for JDW, is it? How will Jon know if it gets better or not if he can still get his site on his computer.

Hate to see him to lose $$ because of this!

Perhaps Dewayne could help him out with this, now that we know what the cause is.

Told Jon it was probably his cache allowing him to see the site but don't think he understood what I was saying. :-(

It looks like he is back online with his own domain: http://www.jdwdist.com

He probably changed his DNS from the other company to his own hosting.

This is a good time for everyone to check and make sure your site is on your own hosting account and not your designer's.

If you have someone else take care of the website for you, take some time and get knowledgeable about it, so you know what to ask for and how to check to make sure things are the way you want them.

I just talked to him and I think we found the root issue. He is working on it now.

Andriana was right. While his domain is ok, the parent company who provides his software etc had expired. This is what he points his sub domain toward. Make sense? Not really, I know. But he is aware of problem now and he is now contacting the parent company.

We are both watching now and it sounds like he has all the help he needs to get the issue solved thanks to everyone here.
