Hi, How does everyone handle receiving perishable products with no expiration date or best used by date. I find this so frustrating as most products are now sent without such dates. Too often I've received expired products from our top vendors to just trust undated products are fine. Blessings, Barbara |

I call or email the company who manufactured the item to find out their code if it isn't clearly marked on the product. I also include the date I purchased the item, so they know how long it sits at the distributor. Just today one asked me who I bought the item I asked about as there was not much shelf life left when I bought it. hopefully this will make the distributors be more aware of products being fresh or not when they send them out. I called many of the distributors to find out the codes only to find out that they themselves don't know them. Something is wrong with that picture. :-( I think they should know all the codes and be checking on how fresh the product is before sending it out. I'll chime in here won't go in to details but I got rid of a vendor for that same reason this product was on their shelves over a year before it was sold to my company when I contacted the Mfg to help me read the code on it. Some companies use the Julian code system and if you call they will help you read their date system. If this is the case for me I created a best use by dates labels, so I know when a product is expiring in my system it lets me know. I don't by products with a short shelf life for me it's a good waste of money. Another thing I don't buy in products thats made in China because the companies here that buy from China don't know the shelf life themselves but yet they purchase these products and sell them to us and that's a scary thought!!! And because I was burn by a vendor I alway ask before I buy what is they shelf life of a product and if they don't know or they say "well we just got it" I ain't buying it! Since that experience I check every product when it comes on my warehouse and if the date is not a readable one we get to calling the mfg for that information. That incident taught me a valuable lesson and a expensive one with a customer. Jarrieta |

I had to post here just to tell you how great a vendor was! I ordered a large amount of popcorn from Breaktime Snacks. The order arrived with a date NOT EXPIRED but too close for me to use it all... I called & they are replacing it all FREE OF CHARGE & when I asked for a call tage to send the first shipment back, I was told to keep it as their gift! Now THAT is customer service!!
